How do Sliding Sash Windows work?
Traditional, Wooden Sliding Sash windows operated by a system of lead weights and pulleys. Our modern uPVC Sliding Sash Windows have a high-quality spiral balance neatly concealed in the outer frame, which works by counter-balancing the weight of the sashes ensuring they glide up and down smoothly.

uPVC Sliding Sash Windows are all made-to-measure and can either operate as a slide only window, or with a tilt option. There are various opening configurations available:

Top sash remains fixed at all times – this option is ideal if you have a really tall window which would make it difficult to reach when opening and closing the window. The bottom sash can be opened for ventilation.

Bottom sash remains fixed at all times – this would be suitable for a child’s bedroom upstairs so the bottom sash would remain closed at all times with the option of opening the top sash for ventilation.

Both top and bottom sashes can open to allow fresh air to circulate in the room.

Tilt sash windows – In addition to sliding up and down, the windows can tilt inwards slightly, which provides the perfect opportunity to reach outside to clean your windows. When operating the tilt facility, it is important to remember to slide the windows open a little so that they clear the top and bottom of the outerframe before starting to tilt the windows inwards.
